Expropriation

"The LeBreton Flats expropriation and demolition created a considerable climate of uncertainty for the Dalhousie area. While the expropriation order included only the lands as far south as Primrose Street, there was little indication to property owners that land acquisition would stop there. Indeed, even to-day the “rumour mill” produces stories of imminent expropriation in the area adjacent to Primrose, perhaps as far south as Spruce Street. As a result, a small number of units are put on the market either to sell them or simply to test the prevailing real estate market."
